How to Make Date Paste

I love having a huge jar of date paste always ready to go in my fridge. It can be added to sauces, used to make caramel, or eaten just as is with apples or even on pancakes.

If you don’t have the best blender or food processor, making date paste ahead of time can facilitate the process of making raw desserts that require blending dates.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Dates (pitted)
  • 1 cup Filtered water

Instructions

  1. If you are not using fresh or Medjool dates, place water and dates in a saucepan and heat slightly until warm.

  2. Let sit in water for 10-20 minutes, until your dates are soft at the touch.

  3. Place dates in blender with 1/4 of the water and blend.

  4. Keep adding water 1/4 cup at a time and blend until all the water has been blended with dates.

  5. Blend until a smooth paste texture forms. Keep in the fridge and add to any recipe to sweeten or even to make caramel!

I often use a huge spoonful of it when making my homemade Matcha Vanilla Latte or to use as caramel over my pancakes. If you are trying to eliminate refined sugar from your diet, making the switch to dates will make it easier on you and your taste buds.
